Job Title: People Services Business Partner

Reports to: Director, People Services


This HR business partner (HRBP) position serves as a consultant to both management and employees on human resource-related issues. The successful HRBP acts as a resource and advisor to employees and managers.  The role listens, advises, and reports on HR-related issues to the People Services Leadership Team. Communicating needs proactively to the People Services Team, the HRBP works with the People Services Leadership Team to develop and champion integrated solutions. The position formulates partnerships across shared services to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of Human Resources expertise, as well as business literacy and knowledge about Aveanna’s culture and its competition.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts weekly meetings with People Services Director
  • Consults with line management and employees, providing HR guidance when appropriate
  • Helps deploy Human Resources solutions, programs and policies
  • Manages and resolves employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management and employees (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Identifies training needs for employees
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success and follows up to ensure training objectives are met

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and occasional weekend work as job duties demand


Approximately 10%, travel is local during the business day with occasional overnight travel as needed

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of HR Business Partner/Generalist experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience resolving employee relations issues
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Strong listening and communication skills (written and verbal) with all levels of managers and employees
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to research and analyze data
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, and statutes, which govern employment policies and practices

 Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience working in a Healthcare environment a plus
  • Experience working with employees in California a plus

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and/or PHR credential required.
